💧 Sip Pup

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 October 2026 · Version 1.0

Sip Pup is a water reminder app. It is currently available on Android through Google Play. An iPhone version is planned but not yet available. Sip Pup is published by S S Niranjan, an individual based in Chennai, India (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Sip Pup collects, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Sip Pup app and to the emails it sends.

The short version. We collect only what the app needs: your email address, your water logs and settings, your subscription status, and a scrambled device code used to prevent repeat free trials. Your age and weight never leave your phone. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

InformationWhy we use it
Email addressTo create your account and sign you in with a one-time code, to run your free trial, to back up your progress, and to send you your sign-in codes. We may also send you service emails about your account, trial or subscription. We don't currently send promotional emails. If we send promotional emails (tips and offers) in future, we'll only do so if you've opted in with the optional box, every such email will include an unsubscribe link, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings.
Water logs — the amount, the time you drank, and whether you logged it from a reminder or in the appTo show your daily total and progress, count the days you reach your goal, unlock animals, and back up your history so it's there on a new phone.
Daily goal and daily totalsTo show your progress and count “goal days”.
Reminder settings — interval and active hoursTo schedule your reminders and keep a backup of your settings with your account.
Your companion and earned animalsTo show your chosen animal and keep the animals you've earned.
Promotional-email preferenceTo respect your choice about tips and offers.

Information created when you use Sip Pup

InformationWhy we use it
Account identifier — a random user ID created when you sign upTo link your data and your subscription to your account across devices.
Sign-up confirmations — that you confirmed you're 18 or older, the version of the Terms and Privacy Policy shown to you, and whenTo show that you agreed to the Terms and Privacy Policy and confirmed your age when you created your account.
Trial dates — when your free trial started and ends, set by our server's clockTo run the 7-day free trial fairly.
Scrambled device codeWhen you sign up, we store a scrambled code that identifies your device. It is used only to prevent repeat free trials, is never used for advertising, and is never shared with anyone. If you delete your account, this scrambled device code is kept, without any link to you, only to prevent repeat free trials.
Subscription status and purchase history — which plan you have, when it renews or ends, and any one-time purchasesTo unlock the app when you subscribe, restore your purchases on a new phone, and stop reminders if your subscription ends. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play (and by Apple, if and when Sip Pup is available on the Apple App Store); we never see or store your card or bank details.
Technical logs — such as IP address, time and type of requestKept automatically by our hosting provider for security and to keep the service running, for a limited time.

Information that stays on your phone

Your age and weight, if you use the goal calculator, are stored only on your phone and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. The same is true of your notification permission and the reminders themselves, which are scheduled on your phone.

Before you create an account, nothing is sent to us. The choices you make during setup (your daily goal, reminder times, your first sip and your companion) stay on your phone until you create your account. Once you do, they are backed up to your account as described above.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your name, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or approximate location, or advertising ID. Sip Pup has no ads and no behavioural or advertising analytics or trackers. RevenueCat processes your subscription data to manage your access and to produce subscription metrics (such as subscriber counts and renewals) for us.

2. How we use information, and our legal basis

We use your information only for the purposes listed above: to provide and secure the app, run your free trial and subscription, back up and restore your progress, prevent abuse of free trials, send service emails, send promotional emails in future only if you've opted in, and meet our legal obligations. We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up (and separately, for promotional emails), and for legitimate uses permitted by law, such as preventing fraud and complying with the law. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account; this doesn't affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.

Sip Pup is a wellbeing app, not a medical service. We don't use your data to make medical assessments, and we don't use it for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you.

3. Who helps us (service providers)

We don't sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who run parts of Sip Pup for us, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only to provide their service to us:

4. How long we keep information

5. Your choices and rights

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Our database enforces access rules so that each account can read and change only its own data, and trial dates can be set only by our server. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.

7. Age requirement

Sip Pup is designed for adults and is only for people aged 18 and over; you confirm this by ticking “I confirm I'm 18 or older” when you sign up. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it. The goal calculator includes general guides for younger ages so that parents can see a typical amount for a child; this information stays on the phone.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and tell you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
